WASHINGTON (Information) – Federal Communications Fee chairman Ajit Pai stated Monday he backs a public public sale to unlock spectrum within the C-Band for next-generation 5G wi-fi networks.

Pai stated on Twitter he helps a public public sale of 280 megahertz of the C-band. “I’m assured they’ll rapidly conduct a public public sale that can give everybody a good likelihood to compete for this #5G spectrum, whereas preserving availability of the higher 200 MHz of the band for continued supply of programming,” he wrote on Twitter.

Main satellite tv for pc service suppliers together with Intelsat have proposed promoting the spectrum privately to wi-fi carriers, arguing a non-public sale would make the spectrum out there for 5G sooner, whereas that plan has drawn criticism from some U.S. lawmakers.
