TOKYO (Information) – Leaders of six main central banks enterprise joint analysis on digital currencies are contemplating holding their first assembly in mid-April in Washington, the Nikkei newspaper reported on Thursday.
The central banks of Britain, the euro zone, Japan, Canada, Sweden and Switzerland final month introduced a plan to share their findings to have a look at the case for issuing digital currencies, amid rising debate over the way forward for cash.
The leaders of the six central banks and the Financial institution of Worldwide Settlements will meet in April to debate methods to streamline cross-border settlement and safety points that have to be addressed if central banks problem digital currencies sooner or later, the paper stated.
The six central banks plan to launch an interim report in June and a ultimate report round autumn, the Nikkei stated with out citing sources.
